1. Site visit and feasibility
We look at the lot, the existing structure, and setbacks, then talk through what can realistically be built.
2. Plans and permits
Drawings, county submittal, and inspection scheduling in Mendocino or Sonoma County.
3. Foundation and framing
Footings, foundation, floor system, walls and roof tie-in — the structural heart of the addition.
4. Dry-in and systems
Roofing, windows, siding, then electrical, plumbing and insulation before drywall.
5. Finish and walkthrough
Drywall, trim, flooring, paint and fixtures, then a punch list and final inspection.

- Most single-room additions run three to five months from permit issuance to final inspection. Larger additions and second-story work take longer. Permit review time in Mendocino and Sonoma counties is the biggest variable and we build a realistic window into your schedule.
- Do I need a permit for an addition in Mendocino County?
- Almost always, yes — and coastal development rules may apply depending on your parcel. We handle the submittal and coordinate inspections so you are not chasing the county yourself.
- Can you match my existing siding and roofline?
- That is the goal on every addition we build. We match roof pitch, siding profile, trim details and paint so the new space reads as original construction.
- Can I live in the house during construction?
- In most cases yes. We phase the work, seal off the construction zone, and keep water and power interruptions short and scheduled in advance.
